Our Story
Harvest King didn’t start in a boardroom. It started with a farmer, a discount card, and a simple idea: the people who work hardest deserve quality products at a fair price. More than 70 years later, that idea still drives everything we make.
1951
Where it started
When major oil suppliers refused to sell to discounters, W.H. Barber Co. agreed—under a private brand name. That name was Harvest King.
1952
The Buying Group Forms
Bob Kiesau united with fellow retailers to pool purchasing power and keep supply lines open.
1954
Mid-States Incorporates
The cooperative model still behind the brand today was formally established.
1957
Fighting for the Name
When a competitor tried to claim the Harvest King name, Kiesau fought back and won.
1960
Trademark filed
The first Harvest King trademark application was filed, covering lubricating oils and greases.
1962
Trademark Approved
The U.S. Patent Office officially registered the Harvest King trademark.
1966
Expanding the Brand
A second trademark was approved, extending Harvest King beyond lubricants into farm sprayers.
2003
Growing into Equipment
Harvest King extended into metal parts for agricultural machinery.
